Following completion of his graduate studies in December 2013, he earned his doctorate from Northeast College of Health Sciences (formerly New York Chiropractic College) in Seneca Falls, NY.
Dr. Ouellette holds certification as a Primary Spine Practitioner (PSP) from The University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. As a PSP, Dr. Ouellette has satisfied rigorous requirements and completed extensive post-graduate training to diagnose and treat spine-related disorders through the delivery of collaborative, patient-centered, cost-effective, evidence-based care.
Combining his knowledge as a Certified Office Ergonomics Evaluator and Whole Food Nutritionist with a finger on the pulse of health and wellness, he aims to teach his patients how to thrive in their diverse environments - offering a suite of lifestyle modification tools to improve across all pillars of health. He also holds board membership on the Nantucket Shellfish Association and is a Community Advisor for Community Foundation for Nantucket.
Exciting New Beginnings In Nantucket
Dr. Ouellette was provided the opportunity to move to Nantucket from his hometown of Westport, MA to serve as a Chiropractic Physician at Island Chiropractic.
Falling in love with the island and its vibrant community, he decided to become a year-round Nantucket resident. Growing up in Westport, Massachusetts where coastal farms and salt marshes give way to brackish rivers and beautiful harbors, Nantucket was a welcome landing place.
Over the past decade, in cooperation with beloved colleagues Dr. Shea Burke & Dr. Mindy Levin, he has assumed ownership of Island Chiropractic & Nantucket Family Chiropractic respectively.
Nature, relationships, growth, and travel inspire Dr. Ouellette. In his spare time, he can be found with friends surf casting, scalloping, hunting, triathlon training or zipping around the harbor in his Zodiac.
Meet Dr. Penny Hanson, Chiropractic Physician
Dr. Penny Hanson, D.C. is from a small, picturesque town in Southwest Iowa called Malvern. With a passion for learning and growing, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
After graduating, Dr. Hanson went on to work in a Chiropractic office as a Chiropractic Assistant where she not only found herself again learning and growing, but also developing a love for helping the community through Chiropractic care.
Her passion for learning and working within her community led her to Davenport, Iowa, the birthplace of the Chiropractic profession. It was here at Palmer College of Chiropractic that she obtained her Doctorate degree in Chiropractic in 2015. This special graduate program is where Dr. Hanson grew her knowledge and skill. Shadowing other Chiropractors during school breaks inspired her to the possibilities of future practice.
Dr. Hanson Joins the Island Chiropractic Family
After coming across an inspiring advertisement written by Dr. Ouellette highlighting Dr. Mindy's retirement and offering employment opportunity, she thought, “This sounds like a place I want to work. Why not?”. This is when she chose to apply for a position at Island Chiropractic as an Associate Chiropractor.
On October 1st, 2022 Dr. Hanson and her poodle Dalilah moved to Nantucket. “I came for the landscape, but I stay for the people,” is the epiphany she came to shortly after moving. Fast to put herself out in the community, in the summer of 2023, she collaborated with local fashion designer Lanika Coore to present the benefits of wearing the correct bra size. Titled “If the Bra Fits”, this event attracted the interest of over 40 attendees at the Nantucket Hotel.
“Nantucket is a special place where I can continue to grow and age gracefully.”- Dr. Hanson
